Advertising and Sales Technique 01: "Let me teach you the 7 weapons that make advertising and sales easier"

Updated: Jul 7

(This lecture is written based on the circumstances of the illustration industry in Japan and on Japanese law.)

The era when work would come just because your art was good is over.

With too many illustrators, it has become an era where just having good art is not enough to make a living.

What becomes necessary in this situation is the 'promotion and sales techniques' for illustrators.

This time, I will give a lecture on seven weapons that make promotion and sales easier.

“Kendo Requires Three Times the Rank” Also Applies to Illustrators

Have you ever heard the phrase “kendo sanbai-dan”?

It means that for an unarmed judoka or karate practitioner to fight on equal terms with a kendoka, who carries a weapon such as a bamboo sword or wooden sword, the unarmed martial artist would need to hold a rank three times higher.

In other words, if the kendoka is a first-dan practitioner, the opposing judoka or karate practitioner would need to be third-dan just to fight on equal terms.

Of course, weapons are prohibited in mixed martial arts as well.

That is because simply having a weapon gives a fighter an enormous advantage.

The same applies to promotional and sales activities by illustrators.

Most illustrators do not even know these weapons exist, and they carry out their promotional and sales activities empty-handed.

If you enter the field carrying these weapons—

you will be able to obtain work much more easily.

I believe those fighting empty-handed would need to surpass you by three times in ability in order to compete with you.

What I will teach you this time are seven weapons for obtaining illustration work more easily.
